Review: The Very Very Very Long Dog

The Very Very Very Long Dog The Very Very Very Long Dog by Julia Patton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

REVIEW:

The Very Very Very Long Dog by Julia Patton is a sweet children's book that I truly enjoyed. The illustrations are calm and fun and seem to be geared towards early readers more than preschool children because of their calm colors.

The children in the story show friendship and consideration when helping their friend (the long dog) to be able to go out even though he is so long he accidentally causes problems wherever he goes. The dog's friends (the children) don't give up on him because it is a challenge to go in public together.

I think the book is a great example of kind and considerate children finding a way to help a friend. I like the calm color pallet used in the illustrations and love the book for children who are around 6-8. .

I received an advance reader's copy of this book for review purposes.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Bartelby is a very long and lovable dachshund who lives in a bookstore. He has a lovely set of friends who take him for walks through the city, but he has no idea that his bumbling backside leaves a trail of destruction and accidents behind him. Embarrassed that he has no control over his back end, Bartelby vows to never leave the cozy bookstore again. Can his friends help him find a way to help himself?

This beautifully illustrated picture book features silly fun along with an important message: that we love our friends not in spite of their flaws, but because of them. (less)
