**** ~ awesome read

I loved this book from the beginning because Pap shot straight to my heart.   The story is so real and absolutely human.  Pap is quite a character himself, and his determination and warped humor were enough to keep me turning the pages.  I love old men that just put it back to the world and refuse to lay down for anyone.  

There are quite a few noteworthy scenes and enough action to keep you guessing and wondering about everyone's loyalties til the last page.  

I have many book to review and often put one down because it doesn't hold my interest.  I had no such problem with this book.  Between the drama & humor, I had to keep reading because I had to find out how Pap came out on the end and then found myself so caught up in the shifting loyalties that I couldn't stop reading. 

Author Bio ~ Carl Purdon

Carl Purdon lives in Pontotoc, Mississippi with his wife and two of their four children. Pontotoc is halfway between Tupelo, which is the birthplace of Elvis, and Oxford, which was the home of William Faulkner. Since he can’t sing, he writes. Since he’s not an expert on anything in particular, he writes fiction.

Carl knew at a very early age he would write novels someday. He prepared himself by reading a wide variety of books, and by falling down a few times. His passion is observing people. His goal is to create characters so real his readers will feel they know them by the end of the book. In February of 2012, he released his debut novel, The Night Train, then, just over a year later, followed it up with his second novel, Norton Road. His third novel, Blinders, is on track for a March 2014 release.
