Review: The 5th Wave

The 5th Wave
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

DESCRIPTION:

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Review Moon Shine Art Spot

This book was so exciting and mind blowing that I could not put it down. Cassie is scared, but determined to reach her brother because he is all she has left. The aliens who have invaded and been watching humans forever truly do know how they think and they have a horrific and ingenious plan. You can trust nobody and therefore everyone is blowing away everyone.

I honestly did suspect what the 5th wave was going to be, but that did not take away from the action packed, page turner at all. I love strong characters and loyalty and this book was so descriptive that you could relate to the shocking reality of the story. All wars are horrific and losing everyone you have and your home is enough to mentally cripple some, but Cassie is a survivor and that may even be respected by the unexpected.

This book is one of the most gripping books I have read in a while and I strongly suggest it.

I received a complementary copy of this book to provide an honest review.

  1. Loved this book! It was such a surprise and it smacked me upside the head with how it broke humanity down and what makes a human, human.
