97 years later antpod society is a well-developed hub of trading and activity, governed by Command. But all is not as it seems. A Spy War rages, where powerful political organisations compete in a game of espionage and carry out hits on their rivals. But now things change. A new turmoil suddenly approaches as agents carry out massacres and terrorist strikes. They inflict massive civilian casualties that threaten to start a war. But what is the motivation behind these attacks?
Mase is an eccentric female antpod who lives alone in her own apartment in Gosper Town. She spends her time immersed in her own world of possessions. Because of her obsession she is isolated and detached from her kind. One day she witnesses a massacre opposite her apartment, and becomes the target of hostile agents. Mase goes into hiding, seeking help from the powerful organisation called the ACPI. But Mase can’t hide forever. Not only is she in danger, but her family, her friends, and her fellow antpods are in need of salvation. Mase must fight back to survive against the odds. But how will she succeed?
The Antpod Faction is a speculative science-fiction adventure story centred on Mase, whose social differences and peculiarities resemble a form of high-functioning autism/asperger syndrome. The Antpod Faction is an allegory for the human condition, seen through the perspective of Mase, who is different and represents a force for change because of her unique blend of talents and weaknesses.

Author Biography
Alex James is a young writer who lives in the United Kingdom in Leeds. He started writing at the age of 21. For him writing is a way to translate who he is into words. His stories reflect this quality. Writing is about passion. And publishing is about sharing passion with other people.
A few themes influence his writing more than others, and they are the themes of alienation and empowerment through political conflict and battle. Much of his writing is inspired by asperger syndrome, a form of autism. He believes it is a difference and not a disorder. The struggles his characters face in many ways mirror his own struggles in life; a fight to become something more than somebody with a condition to compensate for the inadequacies. If life is a social ladder then people with these conditions need to do a lot of climbing.
The science-fiction and fantasy genre allows him to explore these areas and use it as a canvas for rising from bottom to top; bottom and top being measured in various ways in his stories. In stories a person can be anybody they want. They have to fight for it, but it wouldn’t be a story if they didn’t. In a world where an individual’s actions make more difference, it is easier to appreciate such things as heroism, courage, honour, evil, and harmful actions.
