Reality Bites By Shaunda Kennedy Wenger GIVEAWAY

Reality Bites was a Finalist in the 2013 Book of the Year Award by Foreword Reviews

4 ****
Reality Bites by Shaunda Kennedy Wenger is so funny, & the fact that most teen girls feel like a freak at times, just as the main character, makes the book totally believable with a fun twist. This opinion packed book from 12 year old Mackenzie's point of view is smash up crazy with vampires, witches, skeletal relatives hanging around plus the horrors of puberty lingering.

Mackenzie is half vampire/ half human & her vamp mother won't allow her to dress in a beautiful "girlie" costume for an upcoming Halloween party, but requires her to dress gross & gory (family tradition & such that we all love).  Mackenzie is tired if being a freak. Of course this about the time girls want to attract boys rather than scare them away. Lots of laughs & frustration from a headstrong preteen just trying to fit in despite her monster family. I loved the story and think many teens will be able to relate to the very real circumstances. Heart warming and loving in appropriate places, and packed with fun and laughs.

Wenger has taken the oddest of circumstances & made them a reality of laughs.
