The Witches of the
Glass Castle ****
By:
Gabriella Lapore
This
was the author's 1st novel, originally published in 2011,
and since revived in 2014 by another publisher.
I
enjoyed reading this book. It was a page turner for sure. The book
is well suited for middle school age and older [ meaning no sex
scenes, no gory scenes]. I loved the dark, eerie book cover.
What's
the best advice you can give 2 young teens who have just discovered
that they are witches?
Keep
your friends close and you enemies closer.
The
story follows brother and sister, Dino and Mia, as they are sent to
Glass Castle to learn their “gifts”, along with the other young
witches. As each struggles to discover, define and develop their
separate powers, danger is lurking in the forest at the castle's
edge.
Each
chapter seems to bring more knowledge, along with more dangerous
twists.
My
favorite page in the book: {Colt and Mia are out in the cemetery in
the rain, Colt is asking Mia to make it stop raining......... }
Quoted
from book:
'Whatever,'
she said, exasperated. 'Anyway, I'm not doing this .'
Mia looked up to the gloomy, purple sky.
'Yes,
you are.' . . .
It
looks like you', he said. 'It smells like
you. How else can I put this?
It
is you.'
She
stared blankly at him. 'Huh?'
'You're
everywhere.'
This
book would be a great addition to any school library.
I
received this ebook free in exchange for my honest review.
